Re: Nope, she carries a US passport, no more visacrap to deal with either...Gestapo huh?

You didn't get it, George.... Your wife doesn't carry her passport pinned on her breast, does she? So, at first sight, she just looks like any other illegal alien: hence she's entitled to a routine check. Remember that in most of Europe carrying your ID(-soon-to-be-smart-)card with you is MANDATORY.

30 illegal Asian immigrants held in Greece

ATHENS:
Greek police on Sunday arrested 30 Asian illegal immigrants, including 15 Indians, found lying in the false bottom of a truck full of watermelons about to leave for Denmark, a spokesman said.

The illegal immigrants arrested also included five Pakistanis, two Iraqi Kurds and eight Bangladeshis. They were scheduled to be examined by the state attorney's office and expelled.

Police said 19 of them were arrested at the Greek port of Piraeus while 11 were arrested near the harbour and added they were looking for the Greek owner and driver of the truck and a further 30 people said to have been with the group.

The truck was scheduled to travel through Italy to Denmark.

The would-be immigrants had each paid $1,500 to smuggling gangs, police said.

French police had on Friday uncovered a major Chinese human traffic network, transporting illegal immigrants through Austria or by direct flight to France, funded by the largest Chinese money-laundering operation in the country, investigators said on Friday.

The latest cases follow a tragedy at the British port of Dover in which 58 Chinese were found dead from suffocation inside a truck. (Agencies)
