First, freedom is worthless unless it is exercised, unless one chooses something, although every choice limits freedom. In any event, there are assumptions we are bound to make to get started, like the axioms and postulates of geometry. There are others which may not entail the same degree of necessity, but are nevertheless helpful to the process, like Occam's razor. Finally, there are those beliefs which are likely given the web of assumptions made. I would say that belief in God is, at the least, such a belief.
