Paul and others, there is too much unbridled optimism on this thread.
Oh, how I wish it all came true! I first bought AMAT last summer
and added to it later. But shouldn't we at least consider the
unthinkable, a bear market??

How would AMAT fare compared to NASDAQ?
How would NASDAQ fare compared to the DOW?

I recommend to all to request the brochure 'Bear markets' from Vanguard. A good history on the subject, including duration of drop and of recovery. You can order it from their web site. My copy arrived in less than a week.
