Order from a major multinational customer begins immediately and should exceed $3 mln over the next several quarters. Fiber alignment is a key operations in production of fiber optic assemblies used in high-speed internet routing and data communications.

10:10 ET Broadcom (BRCM) 269 3/16 -47/64: -- Update -- Stock comes roaring back after a NXTV-related 12 point pre-market decline; Merrill Lynch out in defense of BRCM, says that while NXTV news is not positive, VDSL accounts for less than 5% of BRCM's top line; would use weakness as a buying opportunity.

09:41 ET Next Level Comm (NXTV) 49 15/16 -41 7/8: -- Update -- Piling on: Merrill Lynch downgrades to near-term NEUTRAL from ACCUMULATE; says that while Qwest (Q) will roll-out VDSL in Phoenix and Denver, it is not likely to do so in other cities and that there is no upside from Qwest for NXTV next year, and potentially some downside.

09:19 ET Motorola (MOT) 36 1/2: Along with BRCM, another potential NXTV casualty is Motorola, which through its General Instruments acquisition owns about 80% of NXTV, meaning that MOT will take a paper hit today in the $2 bln area. MOT is also a supplier to NXTV.

09:18 ET Next Level Comm (NXTV) 91 9/16: -- Update -- Out with response to Lehman comments. Says Qwest has not informed company of its future plans for VDSL. Does agree that a significant decline in revenues from U S WEST would have a material adverse on operating results.... NXTV currently trading at $51 7/8, off lows of morning, but down 43% from yesterday's close.
