Fleck points to a pretty interesting article in yesterdays wrap from May 1999. It's an interview from 8 years ago with an ex-Microsoft CFO. When asked when was the best time to sell Microsoft stock, his asnswer was:

"Watch for any changes in our accounting," said Gaudette. "If I need to I can start, depreciating the software and maintain earnings growth for years on flat revenue. Watch for the accounting changes, wait for the next uptick in the stock price, and then sell."

That's something to make ya think, as the accounting shenanigans are starting to get widespread and there are many new players. Did anyone notice that Cisco in July 1999's quarter took ZERO, ZIP, NADA of investment gains? But in the same qurter this year, that number is $344,000,000? That's something to make you go hmmm....
