Freedom....

Freedom gets right to the third rail.....

Neocon
>>First, freedom is worthless unless it is exercised, unless one chooses something, although every choice limits freedom. In any event, there are assumptions we are bound to make to get started, like the axioms and postulates of geometry. There are others which may not entail the same degree of necessity, but are nevertheless helpful to the process, like Occam's razor. Finally, there are those beliefs which are likely given the web of assumptions made. I would say that belief in God is, at the least, such a belief.>>

Here's another perspective:

Freedom is NOT worthless unless you're trying to define it from this horizontal/literal perspective of the world.

Freedom is actually a timeless part of eternity.

Each man/woman was blessed with a FREE will. This is where our incredible power comes from. Eternity. Timeless eternity which the only expression of which is the energy of love.

Freedom can't be conditionalized and any attempts to make it relative to anything else destroys it.

Either we believe in the existence of freedom or we don't. If the actions of individuals are used to define/restrict our freedoms in any way we essentially have lost the battle. For freedom can't be defined or bottled up. Like love, it's either 100% on or off. As much as we may try to define a grey area, there's really only just ONE line. Either we are free or we are not free.

The answer and the reality that manifests from the personal belief that's behind the answer can only come from within each of us.

>>Freedom is NOT worthless unless it is exercised. I have the freedom to do all KINDS of things I don't choose to do, that does not make freedom worthless.

And your "likely" beliefs do indeed as you say depend on your "web" assumptions. Since a certain percentage of assumptions- in this complex "web" are bound to be faulty I would think fixing on to conclusions should be kept to a minimum if one wishes to be logical and one cares whether one is correct.

If you don't care whether your conclusions match reality (or some type of reality if there is more than one reality) then I see no problem with making as many conclusions as you like. But that is a different argument. If you care to find out about the true nature of reality- I think it is important to make as few decisions about realty as possible, because they are bound to limit your mind. You can contemplate the existence of God(s) without making a decision about that existence- conclusions seem to me completely unnecessary.>>

X is onto something. Conclusions really aren't necessary but I don't think for the reasons she shares. For I believe she is using the term liberally to include, perhaps "definition." For when we define something we are really plowing out this "complex web" which is subjective and personal.

Just me writing/sharing this is one example. No sooner than we define and conclude then someone else is countering or reacting to that definition/conclusion.

Now what happens when we strip away the words and move into the pure realm of energy and light?

Actions.

Movement.

Change.

Just imagine for a moment if we really believed in the timelessness of freedom and the energy we shared was aligned to support it. Anybody could say or do anything they wanted. Correct? But, equally important is the requirement of personal responsibility to make sure we are tolerant, forgiving and loving.

Otherwise, ONE person's action which bounces off the "wrong" wall could be used as a reason/defense to limit/define/restrict the timeless/eternal/sacred value of freedom.

Freedom comes from the eternal/spiritual dimension. It's timelessness and sacredness should not be taken for granted. Unfortunately, the pyramid power of the world which does not believe and think this way feeds of the energy and trust that comes from this sacred eternal source.

Hence the poverty, pain, hatred and anger.

Go through the horizontal logic from here and you will keep circling the same tree while digging a deeper and deeper hole. For the more poverty, pain, hatred and anger there is the less we can count on the freedom and power of INDIVIDUALS to make a difference the more we need rules, regulations, limits and restrictions to reign in the beast, etc.

Individual freedom isn't the beast. Our refusal to trust and risk in the timeless, spiritual verticality of the universe is what's missing.

Peace.
