16 bit Windows Subsystem Message

This window pops up when I try to install Acrobat Reader, I downloaded the latest version directly from Adobe a number of times to make sure that the download was truly successful but I still get the following message during the installation.

"C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows. Chose close to terminate the application."

The strange thing I find is that I had the same program running previously on my NT system a while back before I decided to reformat my hardrive and re-install NT. I've had no problems installing any other programs and I'm fully up to date with all NT service packs.

Any help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Wayne
