Why is DITC so cheap? Some thoughts:

1. Fiber optic sales haven't materialized in measurable amounts for DITC.
2. We hate long distance now. Kill all the long distance carriers (especially T and WCOM) and their traditional suppliers indiscriminately.
3. Specific concerns over Quest's (DITC #1 customer) near-term capital spending in the wake of the U.S. West acquisition.

FWIW, some DSL outfit (Nextlevel) that did a lot of business with U.S. West got slammed today over doubts that Quest will continue to emphasize that business. Not really related at all to DITC, except for spill-over angst, and these guys had U.S. West as #1 customer for over 50% of sales.

Maybe Harry has a better take. Also trying to get a handle on future for DITC's wireless EC products - which sound great in their press releases, but haven't come across any independent research as to their merits, so hard to say if they'll be a hit with the wireless guys. Did I mention wireless? Sell all that stuff too!

It could be with the wall of worry that some see DITC stock as a pre-announcement decapitation candidate. However, it has already been pretty much beheaded.

Lastly, when there is too much critical thinking involved, the mo-mo and daytrading crowds (who have loved DITC in the past) tend to look for greener pastures.
