Thursday, August 24, 2000 Biotechs up for 5th session --11:11 am - By Michael Baron The AMEX Biotechnology index ($BTK: news, msgs) is adding 2.4 percent to 710.27, moving into positive territory for a fifth straight session. 10 of the index's 14 components are on the upside. Top performers include COR Therapeutics (CORR: news, msgs), rising 4 7/8, or 10.2 percent, to 52 7/16; Immunex Corp. (IMNX: news, msgs), up 1 3/8, or 3.1 percent, to 45 11/16; Gilead Sciences (GILD: news, msgs), advancing 3 1/8, or 3.1 percent, to 103 1/2; and Protein Design Labs (PDLI: news, msgs), up 4 3/8, or 5.7 percent, to 81 3/8.
