I like the handicap idea. Add 20% to the difference between the guess and the close for late entries each day after the first day of the contest. Subtract 50% of the difference for anyone who has a low IQ or claims to be having a bad day. Penalize b-i-s 75% of his guess in case he says something that puritans might find offensive.
