Re: Ali DDR chipset intro Japanese translation, etc.

Thanks for posting that. This "frritz66" guy beat me to the punch, as I was working on a rough translation of the article myself (through my father, who does Jap/English translating for a living).

The translated article does a good job of further confirming what I've been saying (and has been apparent to most for some time now). DDR is the next memory standard. Rambus will continue in its very small niche for the P4 introduction, and by the time we see any real volume of P4 shipped (likely 8+ months from now) DDR chipsets will also be coming out.

So once again, the only hope for Rambus remains the patent BS, and it'll just be a matter of time before we see how that pans out. My suspicion (based on the fact that only almost no-name memory suppliers have signed contracts so far) is that the big names (Micron) are quite unlikely to give in. The industry isn't going to take this ramBuS patent crap w/o a fight. And as someone said, in a fight between an industry-wide standard (that's DDR) and a proprietary "solution", well you can guess who the likely winner and loser *cough*rambus*cough* is going to be.
