The text claims that the DDR system was benchmarked at 750Mhz, but the slides clearly show that they were using an 800Mhz Athlon and a 1GHz Athlon. Second, the claimed performance enhancements on the slides were far more modest than the claimed 65%--most were on the magnitude of 7-10%, and these were using tests like "Stream" that are seldom used to show PC performance differences. Finally, the board that was demoed apparently had (based on the pictures) only two DIMM slots, vice the three-slot version that is usually on display. This is important because 3-slot configurations may be more prone to instability (more pins, and a wider range of memory configurations that the chipset must be able to handle). I would also note that the "Athlon" used in the benchmarks is a T-bird, not an Athlon classic, and the heatsink is positively massive. Makes an "Alpha" look like a toy. Compare benchmarks from Tom's hardware or your other favorite site; you will see that these are among the worst scores that you will ever see for a T-bird. The ALi story also uses a common marketing tactic--highlighting the "difference" in performance instead of the raw numbers. They only compare the DDR chipset on ton KT133 system, and the scores for that are suspicously low. I would doubt that MSI was pleased by this comparison. I have a very hard time believing that this chipset will be shipping in volume in anything less than 6 months.
