You have continually shown that you are confused about what are the underlying issues and I am pointing out this is caused by the ambiguity of shifting definition.

Then clarify your definition.

I have for years to nth degree. It's all above and in detail.

You say:

My "definitions" are deliberatly imprecise and generic. People are imprecise beings. You can argue technicalities if you like, but it serves no purpose to the goal.

and then you say:

At this point you need to get past the generalities of words like "content" and "e-commerce" and get to substance. Details. I have no clue what amount of revenues are generated by @home users beyond subscription fees, but I bet its pretty small right now. I consider this a major unknown factor.

But how can you get to substance, details, without having precise definitions of the subject at hand? This isn't merely rhetorical. It's at the heart of ATHM's failure. Management has not defined the company's mission. I have. I have given a detailed method that would generate results in the intermediate term without conceding anything that they don't have already coming. In fact, the facilitator function that I have repeatedly mentioned, is the key to leveraged growth. You have expressed that it was an attractive strategy.

You claim that it is obvious. I cant imagine how you can come to a conclusion like that. You really do act like you live in academia.

The data doesn't support the claim that ATHM gains subs at the expense of AOL. Surely it exists but the loss rate to all cable according to AOL runs less than 1%. This is why Case is expressly indifferent about cable take away. At the same time they have positioned themselves in cable in case this changes, but again Case emphasized that they were more interested in what content TWX could bring to dialup. As hard as that is to believe, it's what's happening. Business can't plan with an expectation of pie-in-the-sky. Did you not emphasize substance and details?
