ISLD...from briefing.com Digital Island (ISLD) 28 3/16 +1 1/2: All dressed up and looking for a date.... Meet a stock that never falls from the radar screen of the hot money crowd. Although ISLD currently trades more than 80% below its $157 one-year high, the stock has a history of rewarding traders with powerful short-term breakouts. Since peaking in December, the stock has experienced just under a dozen rallies that have measured 25% or greater.... Most recent advance of this magnitude occurred Aug 3-7, when stock surged 32% to an Aug. 7 intraday high of $32 1/2. Rally sparked by bullish comments of analyst, who recommended being a buyer of the stock in front of an investor meeting.... Since the meeting, ISLD has been drifting lower as the stock searches for a catalyst. Heavy buying over the past few days of the former momentum elite may provide just the spark needed to set stock up for another 25%+ advance.... Traders have made their way down the momentum hot list, buying CREE, CIEN, EMLX, AETH and even CTXS. No strong fundamental reason for sudden uptick in these stocks. Issues benefitting primarily from an ability to maintain their relative strength on a short-term basis, leading to multiple-session rallies in the stocks.... Digital Island shares currently flirting with important resistance at the $28 5/8 level. Ability to close above this price would go a long way towards confirming the sustainability of the current move. Like the others, ISLD benefitting from no significant shift in fundamental outlook. We're eyeing stock strictly from a technical perspective. A look at the charts of the best performing tech names over the past several weeks confirms that technical events have been the impetus for many of their moves.... With limited news, puny volume and still-lofty valuations, little else for traders to work with.--Damon Southward, Briefing.com |
