I suppose that I always have been confused by the idea that what is beyond the universe? That 'nothing' that Solon speaks of.

In reading that link [most of it ] It appears that when they say universe they seem to mean the expanding mass from the BB.

If so then I would pretty much agree that the outer rim of the expansion would be the end of the universe.

If the universe stopped expanding so what? I suspect that the boundaries would be gradual........Matter,energy....less matter ,energy....no matter,energy...... no physics ..no universe.

I like the ripple analogy better than the balloon as the ripple [ if it is meant to represent the matter and not just be a wave flowing through matter ] is expanding into nothingness [ The BB adding matter into nothing ].

The balloon seems to be expanding from within [ ok ] while the skin always being in the same space rather than taking over space.

Himmmm.....Make any sense?
