There may have been many "pole shifts" (as opposed to "poll shifts" which happen frequently - hahah).

Certain parts of the world still bear witness to violent planetary upheavals that happened in a matter of days or even hours. That evidence exists back through time that various parts of the world (Hudson Bay is one example) were at one time or another the geological "tops of the world" seems incontrovertible... but there is nevertheless a lively debate about it.
