The question has been asked, how will Qualcomm raise HDR to 10 Mgps. Here's the answer:

SAN DIEGO {Aug. 24) Qualcomm, Inc. announced today that it is buying Dixie Cups and as a result of the
purchase, it will be able to offer wireless data rates up to 10 Mgps. Asked about its latest moves, Dr. Irwin
Jacobs, said, "Qualcomm has always been known as the company that does the impossible. We try to think out of
the box, to simplify. One of the tricks we use is to mentally return to childhood, so that we can see things the way
we did as children. One evening some of our top people were playing a mean game of pinball, and someone
suggested the old solution of tying a string between two Dixie Cups. I replied, 'Why not?' That began the genesis of
our new advances to HDR."

Two prominent analysts who have never cared for Qualcomm, Marc Cabi and Ed Snyder, said of the move, "Well,
if they have done it, we have to tip our hats to Qualcomm. Maybe we ought to do that one better by going to the
Karl Straus Brewery and buying them some beers. As much as we hate to say it, Qualcomm is a strong buy." Tero
Kutinen reportedly said (after our reporter explained what a Dixie Cup is), "It looks like Nokia will finally have
to bow down to Qualcomm; W-CDMA is now dead." Nokia, however, announced that it had invented the Dixie
Cup and was developing its own Eurocentric solution. Its CEO reportedly said, "We aren't going to allow
Qualcomm to have a monopoly on this low-tech/high tech solution. We can mold paper and wax as well as
anybody."
