I had not known that an interest in Velikovsky was a characteristic of fundamentalists. I thought it was more along the lines of people who like von Daneken. But I am not really up on this particular phenomenon. I can tell you that the public schools are not exactly turning out kids with a strong grasp of science.

I remember vaguely hearing about a theory that the current poles were once where the equator is, and vice versa, but I do not remember the provenance of the theory. I don't recall it as being Velikovsky, but I do not remember what its origin was.

The main thing is that it hardly matters in relation to the goal of creating an informed citizenry. I am more alarmed that few Americans could pass the test for naturalization.......
