Past tense used because the events described were in the past. Whether QCOM is a gorilla at this time is another matter. As you suggest, it's important to decide whether it's the gorilla of wireless or the gorilla of CDMA .I would agree with your opinion on this at this time, but I'm open to other viewpoints.
