DS,I don't underestimate Intel's capacity to change with the times, and they are still a better manufacturer than AMD. time. However it turns out that a big part of the reason for AMD's past poor chip yields was a defect in the K6 design. Their recent yields are a lot better. As the stronger company INTC enjoys many advantages over AMD. It's just that there are only so many stocks I can buy and follow, and I prefer gorillas that are earlier in the tech adoption cycle. If I could own 30 stocks instead of 12, INTC would be one of them. The PC is going to be with us a long time, but it's years of best growth are probably in the past. Time and energy constraints means that I just can't keep track of too many industries. Is this your first AMD computer? If so, that just reinforces the idea that for the first time in years, there is some genuine competition.Three years ago few would consider a non Intel microprocessor. OTOH, price and features being equal, most would prefer a Pentium over a Althon.
