Internet Wire Statement ....AKA --->know your sources!
LOS ANGELES, CA, Aug 25, 2000 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- This morning at
9:30 a.m. EST, Internet Wire published a news release regarding the company,
Emulex Corporation(Nasdaq:EMLX). We soon learned this press release was a hoax,
and that Emulex did NOT write nor issue the press release. Upon learning of the
hoax, we immediately pulled the press release from our Web site and alerted the
other leading news sites on the Internet that the press release was false.
For reasons presently unknown, it appears the hoax was perpetrated by
anindividual (or individuals) who falsely represented himself or herself as a
public relations agency representing Emulex. Internet Wire deeply regrets that
this incident has occurred and for any problems or confusion it has caused for
Emulex, the company's investors, and the market place in general.
The incident is currently under investigation and Internet Wire is cooperating
with the authorities.
In our six year history, this is the only time that we have encountered such a
