dybdahl - well, I must admit I don't know the market in Denmark...
Presario is not a commercial product - the armada line is. CPQ will pre-install Win2K on some Presario products, but the consumer line is pretty much Win9X or Windows ME. The US web site recommends Windows 2000 professional on all the Armada products, and that is the default OS. You have to go out of your way to get anything else.

As far as your last 2 points, just not true. I have an older Armada 6500 which I set up as a dual-boot machine right after Win2K was launched. Most stuff runs as fast or faster on Win2K than Win98SE. The use of the hard drive is of course dependent on what you are doing, but there did not seem to be more hard disk use under Win2K and I noticed no difference in battery life.
