**Don Wolanchuk Interview 8/25/00 **
Don Wolanchuk (Timer Digest's 1999 Market Timer, Gold Timer & Long-term Timer of the Year) interview on today's The Stock Market Observer, a local television stock show in Chicago that he speaks on every Friday at 2:15pm CDT. ( DW= Don Wolanchuk and GS= host Gary Salem)
GS: Let's go to Don Wolanchuk, perennial Bull the great majority of the time. And he joins us from Roseville, Michigan to give us his latest fixing on the market.
When last I saw Timer Digest, which was only 2 days ago, you were still a Bull and you were still #1 out of the top 10. What are your thoughts right now, Don?
DW: Waassaabbee!
GS: LOL . What was that?
DW: Waassaabbee! LOL!
DW: It's a dull one today isn't it?
GS: Oh yes.
DW: I mean it's beyond belief. I think the market's been stuck in a .... All day I don't think it's fluctuated more than 10 points.
GS: Yes, very little change.
DW: That makes you want to get out of here.
GS: That's what weekends are for. But before you go off on your weekend and we on ours, what do you like and what do you expect from this market for the next few weeks at least?
DW: Well, the DOW is being held hostage to the little formations that's been constructed. It's really helped sentiment because a lot of defensiveness going on there is put/call ratios that are kind of fat. But in the meantime, the secondaries and the small-caps are continuing to act like a million dollars. Measured by the Value Line (index) and the 400 Mid-Cap Index and some of these others.
And stocks that we talked about on this program like: Image Ware (IW), I think we talked around $6 is now around $14. And that's in a matter of a few weeks.
MicroVision (MVIS) has jumped more than 10% in the last few days. And so the small stocks continue to act like a million dollars.
Valence (VLNC) is popping up.
WaveRider (WAVC) just got coverage by Van Kasper (brokerage).
All kinds of great things are happening. Voice Mobility (VMII) is coming out of its basing pattern.
So, one by one things are falling into place for a push in the DOW to historic highs. Of course a number of indexes have already been making new highs. The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) continues to soar. Overall the general market conditions are in a rotational basis looking quite exciting. And going up nice and easy keep the sentiment in decent shape. When you go up real fast, everybody gets too enthusiastic too quick. But when you go up slow like this, it tends to keep everybody nervous. That's the best kind of stock market that I can envision.
GS: Don, we got to go for now. Have a good weekend, we'll talk to you again next week.
DW: You too.
