Milo,
Piii's are gone or should I say DEAD.
I checked out the Best Buy on Airport Way in Portland, Oregon today. I was surprised to see that out of nine laptops, one was a Celeron, three were Pentium IIIs (500 and 600 Mhz, not the 700 Mhz seen in prior weeks), and five were AMD. Of the AMD laptops, one was a Compaq 500 Mhz K6, one was a Compaq 550 K6-2+, one was an HP 500 Mhz K6-2+, one was an HP 550 Mhz K6-2+ with a 12.1" screen, and one was an HP 550 K6-2+ with a 14" screen. I guess the K6 is alive and well in the laptop space. There was a noticible absence of PIII desktop systems -- two, possibly three, total. There were a handfull of Celeron desktops. The vast majority were 800+ Mhz Athlon systems from HP and Compaq. Hmmm, ASP might not be too bad this quarter, after all.
