Top performers include Immunex (IMNX: news, msgs), up 1 1/16, or 2.3 percent, to 47 3/4; Protein Design Labs (PDLI: news, msgs), advancing 6 1/8, or 8.1 percent, to 92 1/16; and and Medimmune (MEDI: news, msgs), jumping 3 11/16, or 4.9 percent, to 79. On the downside is Chiron Corp. (CHIR: news, msgs), off 2 1/16, or 4 percent, to 49 3/8. (An earlier report based on incorrect market data indicated this index was moving lower.)
