i have been running through historical data on VIX and have found it is a consistent indicator of major COMPX moves since mid-97 at least. I have found 4 instances that it saved your bacon:) as a sell signal,i include it's rise to 26plus in march as a major major money saver.
But yes,that 19plus in Nov preceded a huge bull move.
My interpretation is if a major up move occurs now it will,just as in the Nov99, will be followed by a massive downturn but i suspect greater than in April.
Point being ,huge up moves off a low VIX,be rampant greed in heat,as was the last bull run in NASD.My advice to myself is,be nimble be quick be smart.(i try anyway:) max
