TM,

Stock manipulation can be subjective in nature -- but the person named in the wsj.com article was obviously making intentional efforts to boost the price of the stock for profit. He had the motive, he took manipulative actions to boost the price, and has been indicted. The attorney can sugar coat it all he wants, 5-10. Federal statutes require a minimum of 85% prison time. This differs from state prisons which offer a lot more "good behavior early release time".

Buying good companies is the only way to make wealth in the market. Illegal stock promoters, and stock manipulators are the scum of society.
