....I remember my Mothers disbelief when Nixon resigned,
I remember that day very clearly, I was living in South Houston a few blocks from Gilley's working as a pipe-fitter's assistant. When Nixon spoke on TV I went down the block to a convienence store and bought a bottle of Cold Duck champage to celebrate. I popped the cork and raised the bubbling bottle in toast in the parking lot, where I was observed by various other workers from the ship channel. A long chase ensued in which I believe I barely escaped with my life. Good experience, it convinced me I should go back to college.
