This is an illusion that is somewhat supported by the AMES performance. The performance is not expected to turn out better for the reason that the overall retail was off. The management has been increasing pages on their weekly flyer to attract better traffic. Thus far last week, it may still be off in traffic. Hills performance was always questioned as far as merchandise and location fit?

On the other hand, after labor day weekend, we should see better activity going into X'mas. AMES seems to be prepared, merchandise wise. Does the new director, mean AMES is exploring higher turn over and factoring? It is a question that I can not answer, because AMES is mostly cash transactions.

The shorts situation is at best muddy. With so many market makers, each with their own customers; most have shorts in large block of blocks. Total shares the institutions held were over 100% of stock issued and outstanding. If AMES performance were solid; a short squeeze is bound to happen. As it is today, no one dared to make a move. Some stockholders will be taking a big chance for 2 years at least; for recovery beyond $48/share, if it ever happens again.

Good luck on all your investments; because professionals in the 680 market makers' operations on Wall street are trying to rebuild the market; after Greenspan's fiasco earlier this year. The year might actually end up higher, because of cash sitting on the sideline. Traditional tax loss season may play out different. But who can really say that except keeping a close watch, day after day. Can these professionals execute as expected?
