SJS,

Perpetrators must know that not only will they be accountable if caught, but that no can profit from attempts at outright fraudulent actions.

Although I have no position in Emulex, I agree with you that all trades done yesterday should be null and void. Doing otherwise will only encourage others to attempt the same manipulation since the perpetrators have gotten away with their money. We don't know if they were short or looking to buy options cheap, but a 60% haircut is surely more than they had anticipated.

If this case goes without some type of resolution such as you suggest, there will be a serious weakening of confidence in the market and the news outlets. It leaves me shaken, especially since I have some margin. Could some lowlife in the future do the same to me? At this point, I have little faith in market mechanisms should a remedy not come forth to help those who lost money yesterday unfairly. It's in everyone's best interests to say yesterday never happened and void all trades that took place.
