with all due respect to Microsoft & Bill Gates : - the company has always been a software company. - developing chips doesnt happen overnight, and that area of the business has never been Microsoft's core competency. - 'Bill Gates reportedly said yadayadayada' dont make sense if it is not an attributed quote, so it dont count in my books.
