isopatch, Talking about drilling, I flew into Albuquerque yesterday, rented a car and drove down through Tijeras, then south into Willard, swung north of El Capitan through Corona, across Lincoln County (Billy The Kid's old haunts), then Roswell and into Artesia...

From Artesia into Loco Hills and then across Devils Flats into Hobbs I drove through SE New Mexico's oil & gas fields. It was late at night and there was no moon so drilling rigs were easy to spot.

Last time I counted rigs on that same road eight months ago I counted 12 drillings rigs. Last night I counted exactly twice as many rigs drilling or 24 rigs...An unoffical indicator of drilling activity in part of one major basin...

My favorite rig was one spotted right behind JW's Icehouse in Loco Hills. I stopped to make sure it was actually drilling. If you're used to stepping out into the tumbleweeds behind JW's to take a pee after you've had a beer or two, you might now get a surprise (drilling rigs are lit up like battleships at night)....
