Hi chic hearne; Re DDR not being available at K-Mart yet...

This happens every time a new technology comes out, and is par for the course. Think back to one year ago...

The word on AMD's Athlon was that they didn't have any available, and they never would. RDRAM based machines were supposed to be out in the fall, but until the IDF, no one had any benchmarks from one.

But with DDR, the technology doesn't yet even look particularly late to me. The word was summer of 2000, and the summer still has a month left to go. ALi has DDR chips out, and they've already been benchmarked. Everybody else is playing with systems.

No one has any reason to announce the near availability of DDR motherboards until they want to reduce sales of the first board that's out there. After the first board becomes available, everybody else will start talking about the boards that they're gonna have real soon now, just like with the Nvidia GeForce boards. In addition to all that, why would a motherboard house p:$$ off Intel before they actually had product to sell?
