Lucius I just spend about 10K on a Dell work station.I did a lot of digging and talked to people who are in the business for advice on all the configuration that I should pick.The one thing that was never argued was the microprocessor.Every one recommended intc.Although some of the guys I talked to are techno freaks and have pc with both amd and intc microprocessors,they still like the intc better.Don't ask me why or maybe it is a human thing,like go with what you know and has worked for you in the past.That can be a significant barrier itself.

I can relate to that a little bit as my purchasing habits are ingrained within certain product categories i.e. Sony tvs,Nokia Mobiles,Michelin Tyres,British Airways flights etc etc.
