Oh I'm so glad you said that: I was holding naked puts (still do to some extent) last year and though my account was in GREAT shape I got a horrible margin call because CMGI suddenly tanked BIG TIME and I had both stock and sold puts. I had to sell things like EMC at a big loss when I KNEW they'd be at a gain in a couple of months. (I also switched to BROWN who are MUCH more reasonable about what they hold back for naked puts.)
But I'm glad you mentioned it so people know. I was a babe in the woods first few times I sold puts.
