Actually, what I am ragging on them is for taking so long to get their patent. If they'd gotten their patent 2 years after application, instead of 10 years, and charged 1% royalties, they'd have at least a billion dollars more in the bank than they do. That's a lot of money to leave on the table. Why did they do it? Who screwed up?

Companies regularly apply for patents and get them granted in 1,2 or 3 years. Why did it take Rambus so long? It cost them a boatload of cash. Why? I still haven't seen any kind of reasonable explanation. Your explanation amounts to saying Rambus missed the money because it took so long to get the patent. Okay. Why did it take so long?
