Jim, well we cnidarians have known for a while that no one really wants true tax reform, they just want their taxes to be lower, if not eliminated. You know "don't tax me, don't tax thee, tax that guy behind the tree". This is not a Democratic or Republican issue, both have the things they want to tax, both have people they want to tax and both have the things they want to spend that tax money on. And this is why that no matter who controls the White House, Congress, or both, that nothing really happens. Sure they may make some steps in the direction of reform, but those changes get clouded in addendums, special cases, changes and "clarifications" that run on for pages...
Don't try to pretend that the Republicans don't appreciate sheep as much as the Democrats, both parties only really want the population to raise questions on queue and on particular topics. Sometimes those things are even the same between the two parties.
It's a crying shame that there is no really valid third party in this country. The Reform Party is in the process of eating their young, and, while I like Nader, the Greens are not what I consider viable. Sigh. |
