IMO german firms tend to overpay for US companies. A few years ago Henkle was on aa 600mil buying binge for speciality chemical companies in the USA. We bid on one of these togeather, our valuation was 15mil (Dow came up with 17mil) and Henkle bought the outfit for 27mil.
It was explained to me that the very high employment cost in Germany and in gerneral poorer opportunities to invest capital in Germany contributes to the valuation distortion.
Anyway, if you have something to sell.....market it to the Germans.
