When you first commented on this topic, I was quite reassured. Then I've been really surprised when they demoed the 2 GHz; were-you?

I believe 2 GHz Willy in Q2, even a slithly poster child one, is not a pretty good friend to have, don't you?

Max,

On the surface it seems to be pretty grim news. However when you start looking at the facts behind this fact, its not as bad. First the chip is delayed until the end of the year and maybe later, secondly its big, taking up alot of wafer, making it expensive to manufacture, thirdly, it runs very hot, making it a bit problematic when in operation, fourthly its clock speeds hides the fact that its overall performance is not great compared to the Athlon or the P3, and finally, given all these factors, AMD will probably end up matching the P4 clockspeed for clockspeed. That's not a given but a real possibility.

In other words, there is reason for concern but not hysteria. ;~))
