My guess is that there will be changes in both R&D and marketing. 3Com has already announced they will drop the US Robotics name (a poor decision, FMPOV). They will keep the Sportster name, and I'm not sure about the Megahertz label. One of the synergies of the merger will be to eliminate redundant R&D, so we should also expect changes in product development. How well they fare in that remains to be seen, but we're talking about two of the top research and marketing companies in LAN and WAN networking. That's a good place to start.
