Long and short, not meaning puts to calls, but buying puts or calls (long) or selling puts or calls (short). They don't double count the trade where someone buys a call and another writes the call contract.

long call is the right to buy
long put is the right to sell
short call is the obligation to sell
short put is the obligation to buy
