MessageMedia Unveils TargetDB Closed-Loop Marketing Database; TargetDB to Help Marketers Increase Effectiveness of Online, Offline Campaigns

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2000--MessageMedia Inc. (Nasdaq:MESG), the leading provider of strategic messaging solutions and services, announced today that it has launched TargetDB(tm), a powerful customer-centric database that is fully integrated with MessageMedia's messaging platform. TargetDB(tm) allows marketers to develop highly targeted strategic campaigns based on a wide variety of customer histories and behaviors. TargetDB(tm) captures rich marketing information including promotional history, click-through rates, demographic and customer preference information. Marketers can also perform ad hoc queries over the web as well as query and select customers to engage in highly targeted dialogues.

"Whether a client is only beginning to create a customer-centric database with simple contact information or wants to migrate a full offline marketing database to initiate an on-line direct marketing program, TargetDB(tm) will do the job," said Mark Labovitz, general manager of MessageMedia's Customer Intelligence business unit. "TargetDB(tm) can easily scale from initial loads to large and complex configurations. An open system architecture allows full customization for each client, all contained within the defined data model. This means that we can pass on the savings generated by large-scale efficiencies to our clients."

TargetDB(tm) forms the anchor of MessageMedia's customer knowledge offerings. Additional modules will interface with the TargetDB(tm) database to provide a detailed query, campaign management and data-mining functionality. TargetDB(tm) is fully compatible with clients' existing customer databases.

"TargetDB(tm) is a precise and integrated intelligence tool that will provide our clients with a closed-loop marketing capability that is far more seamless then our competition," said Peter Hopfensperger, vice president of Sales. "Better customer knowledge for our clients means more effective marketing and communications campaigns. It will effectively master the habits of customers online and successfully create stronger ROI."

The TargetDB(tm) Suite

In addition to TargetDB(tm), MessageMedia clients may receive a series of tools to help them more accurately use the TargetDB(tm) database.

TargetVision(tm)

A web-enabled query interface, TargetVision(tm) provides a seamless integration of messaging and customer database knowledge. The query capabilities include real-time updates of TargetDB(tm), access to customized data reports and the ability to obtain aggregated information.

TargetDialogue(tm)

A full-featured campaign management tool for managing complex content and offerings with the ability to schedule and conduct event-driven marketing promotion through the TargetDB(tm) database. TargetDialogue(tm) includes separate modules of a campaign designer and response management. The campaign designer allows users to develop multi-segment and multi-offers for trigger-based communication strategies. The response management module allows clients to define the business rules for a specific response to a promotion and capture those responses for analysis and reporting. MessageMedia's TargetDialogue(tm) is powered by xChange.

TargetNow(tm)

TargetNow(tm) is a robust data-mining module that provides integration of data mining and campaign management to provide advanced segmentation and strategic targeting effectiveness. TargetNow(tm) allows an integration of intelligence tools and database management for a more effective measure of customer relationships.

"Unlike most database marketing tools, TargetDB(tm) is a consistent flow through our messenger platform," said Mark Labovitz, general manager of Customer Intelligence. "Our clients work with customer intelligence tools that were built on the same platform and are engineered to feel as one solution with immense capability and functionality for the simple and intense online marketer."

TargetDB(tm) is available today and is currently in use by several MessageMedia clients.
