Re: I post links from the Guardian and you post links by a guy named Sells who is obviously prejudiced in this conflict.
ROFL! C'mon George! Stop taking yourself so seriously.... You post tedious screeds from the Guardian indeed --that is, from a British weekly that notoriously belongs to the caviar Left. I don't think that, as a mainstream newspaper, it'd indulge in Yank-bashing but I for sure know that its French partner, Le Monde Diplomatique, is by no means a pro-US mouthpiece!
Anyway, George, I praise your media-handpicking skills: after all, you just picked out the only Brit newspaper that's anti-US and is not at the same time some fringe, ultra-leftist pamphlet....
Besides, note that there's something deeply disturbing in the way Europe's anti-US media play down the aborted genocide in Kosovo: in the current edition of the Guardian, there's an article titled "The West exaggerated the Kosovo...." and it reports that "only" 3,000 Albanian casualties have been listed so far. That's what I call the Rwanda media-syndrome, that is a blasé indifference for any massacre that eventually brings about less than 500,000 fatalities. What did you say? There's civil unrest in Patagonia? Death toll is only 50,000?! the hell with it! We'll take care of it when the toll hits the 100k mark.... As the saying goes: don't sweat the small stuff. |
