Dealing with teen depression is the scariest and the riskiest. I hadn't read your post about the boy, I guess- I seem to be behind as usual. When I read X's and then gaugie's, the similarity between his indignation and what X and I had felt about FS's cavalier dismissal of this woman's situation struck me. I think there is a BIGGGGG difference between saying - "kill yourself? How can you think that, you fool, look at that sunrise," and acknowledging the legitimacy of someone's pain and not saying it's wrong or silly or irrational, but, just as you said, trying to open a teeny connection between the world and the suicide, and giving back some feeling of control. Letting a teen die would be a lot harder for me (and I know you) than an adult. BUt then, I am such a controlling mom.
