INTC v. AMD and buying habits

I agree with you and Shamsee re: buying products from cos. that give you a secure feeling with one caveat.

In the old days no one wanted Japanese products because they were considered cheap and poorly made.

Now of course the Japanese have taken over whole markets, as in TV, Hi-Fi, and substantial shares of many other markets as in both high and low end automobiles.

They were able to do so by consistently and over long periods of time offering higher quality and lower priced (now higher priced) products.

AMD 'may' be able to do the same. And it wont even need to do so over a long period of time since they have a limited number of customers whom they have to satisfy with their higher quality and lower price. Who knows, ultimately they may be able to charge higher prices.
