On a not too distant topic, I got a laugh when I heard that one of the orginal Feldherhof/de Guzman cohorts in Indonesian hyping was involved with a Canadian public company today. The Globe ran an item on Friday noting that Kevin Parry received a criminal conviction in late 1994 for his securities activities (he was profiled in the Globe's May 3 "Bre-X: The Untold Story" feature). And now, as the following item from Canada Stockwatch notes, he's involved with Bob Friedland and First Dynasty. Just classic.

The Sydney Morning Herald says one of Australia's most colourful characters is teaming up with one of North America's most controversial stock promoters to redevelop a mothballed Armenian mine. The paper reports in its Friday May 16 edition that Kevin Parry, the entrepreneur behind such 1980s failures as Parry Corp and Pelsart Resources NL, is partnered with Robert Friedland's First Dynasty Mines in a planned venture to bring back on stream Armenia's Zod Mine which dates back to the second millenium BC and is described by Mr Parry as a national treasure. Mr Parry and an unlisted Perth company Eyre Resources NL, along with First Dynasty and a government controlled entity, Global Gold Armenia, propose to redevelop Zod, shut down since the collapse of the former Soviet Union. This is just one part of a four-stage plan to revitalize Armenia's rich but stagnant gold industry Mr Parry told the Herald. Kevin Parry has become known to North American investors recently as the man behind Pelsart, an Australian junior company which employed John Felderhof and the late Michael de Guzman as its geologists. By 1988, Pelsart, which was nearly bankrupted by Parry's attempts to win the America's Cup yacht race, had failed in its much hyped gold exploration in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Years later Felderhof and de Guzman resurfaced with Indonesian prospects in Bre-X Minerals.
