Genuity to Trial Nortel Networks OPTera Connect HDX Connection Manager

BOSTON, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ - Genuity (NASDAQ: GENU) plans to conduct what are expected to be the first customer trials of next generation, multi- terabit, intelligent optical cross-connect switches using the OPTera Connect HDX Connection Manager from Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT). An ultra dense, massively scalable, intelligent optical service platform, Nortel Networks OPTera Connect HDX Connection Manager is designed to reduce the cost of switched optical services while simplifying and automating end-to- end connectivity. With capacity ranging from hundreds of gigabits per second to tens of terabits per second, OPTera Connect HDX will expedite access to services such as managed connectivity, Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and eBusiness hosting. Genuity plans to test the performance, interoperability and operational simplicity of OPTera Connect HDX beginning in the first quarter of 2001.
