Intel recalls 1.13GHz Pentium IIIs zdnet.com

Here's the ZDNET followup story, also with choice quotes. A good first quip:

The chip shipped July 31.

And there's probably been at least 2 more shipped since then. Only slightly less sarcastically,

Intel is working with its PC manufacturer customers to recover the processors that have been shipped to end users. Out of all the PC manufacturers in North America, only Dell Computer Corp. and IBM Corp. have shipped significant quantities of the chip.

Didn't chic or somebody say that IBM had gotten 40, with no more in sight? A new definition of "significant quantities", I guess, though Mikey probably got a few more.

Cheers, Dan.
