<<Indian casinos sounds even weirder. Like maybe ominous.>>

Ominous is the word in Illinois. The Miami Tribe has claimed a mistake in a treaty that's 200 years old and are trying to claim 25 counties here. They have filed suit against one farmer in each county to set a precedent for taking all the land. Tens of thousands of families stand to lose their farms, some being in the family for generations.

They have stated they might settle for a casino near Chicago built by the state. State says no. The Miami Tribe is from Oklahoma so the claim is bogus BUT most of the farmers don't have the $250k to fight a federal battle and may well lose.

Now if any here are real serious about suicide, walk into some of the small town taverns in the disputed counties and announce you are from the Miami Tribe. More than one pickup has a bumper sticker that isn't PC about Native Americans.
