Net strategy for GE has been help desk with experts crossing internal divisions.( diversification ) They have been very successful. However, the net business has been rather slow, out of about $150 billion revenue; only $5 billion have been derived from the internet.

GE appliance web site has bells and whistles but has not kept up to be interesting for more visits frequently. Some work has to be done there, I am sure.

The problem at NBCi seems to be in their consolidation process. Brain drain to certain extent is due to constant change of direction. What they have to do is to add constantly to bring in more fringe sectors and segments of customers. ( diversification again ). Certainly, the matrix team from the headquarters can straighten this out and also create a directive to have all subsidiaries have paperless transactions of purchasing and order taking, on the net. Possibly pushing 60% of revenue on the web sites in an exchange format.

I expect that GE may have some degree of fabulous productivity in the next two years, once they get on the net comfortably.
